Research activities
In September 2003 I began collaborating, as a student only a few hours a week until the end of 2005, in the laboratory of the Physiology department, where I later completed the studies to obtain the Diploma of Advanced Studies (DEA), in full-time until the end of 2007. During those years, I was entrusted with duties on several projects.
Other lines of research: Hepatotoxicity of xenobiotics.
Nature of biological samples: Human fluids (blood, plasma, urine, and follicular); Human primary cultures (granulosa cells); Human cell lines (HepG2, A375); Rat liver; Rat primary culture (hepatocytes).
Role in experiments: Execution, analysis, and communication.
Training of students: Undergraduate students conducting laboratory work.
Developed methodology: Genotyping of MAOA by PCR (variable number tandem repeat, VNTR); COMT enzyme activity assay by fluorimetry.
Improved methodology: Primary cultures of human granulosa cells.
Learned methodology: Preparation of solutions; pH adjustment; Tissue homogenization; Cell fractionation; Protein determination (Bradford); Determination of tocopherols and malondialdehyde by HPLC; Determination of NOx by Griess reaction; Total antioxidant capacity assay (ABTS); Paraoxonase activity; Western blot; RNA purification; PCR; RT-qPCR; Genotyping of restriction fragment length polymorphisms (RFLP); RIA; Maintenance of cell cultures; Waste management.
